one day i'd like to go to the farmer's market with only my camera - and no plans to shop for food. it's hard! taking pictures and choosing produce and taking pictures and paying farmers and taking pictures and keeping track of children. hard, but so so good.
tonight we made a delicious dinner: grilled tuna steaks on toasted buns with garlic-lemon aioli and sliced tomatoes, green beans sauteed in garlic and onion, pesto pasta with chunks of mozzarella cheese. and for dessert, i made shortcakes to go with the black raspberries we bought this morning at the market and the vanilla ice cream hiding at the bottom of the freezer. we ate on the porch. and in between dinner and dessert? we took a walk around the neighborhood. perfection.
hope your weekend was grand!

Beautiful images! The donuts look so yummy.

I'm inspired; I'll have to make it to an outdoor market soon. My husband is growing some vegetables, but the fruit looks so tempting.

Not going to lie, I'm a little bit jealous. Sounds like a fabulous evening. I know what you mean about the Farmer's Market. I go -to- take pictures and end up buying, half the time with little to no pictures in the end. Great shots though.

These are gorgeous photos...and those mushrooms-amazing. And donuts, too?
My way of juggling market shopping/photographing/kid watching is to send the kids to wait on line for pickles on a stick. Do you have that there? Works like a charm.

I was thinking the same thing yesterday at the farmer's market. At least to not have children there. camera + purchasing + kid watching is one thing too many:)
and it's such a rich place for taking pictures I feel like I've missed a great opportunity.

I'm not sure I "get" those doughnuts. I mean, they look like cheerios. They look so tiny!

i always felt self-conscious about taking farmer's market pics until i went to union square and saw how full it is of shutterbugs :) it is one of the best places to play with a camera, isn't it? that you get dinner out of the deal too just seems like icing.

I find it really hard to go to the farmers market to buy things and take pictures at the same time too.

I wish I lived near a farmer's market. i love going to them. We live in rural Georgia and the closest one is in Savannah. Seems crazy that with all these farmers around here that we wouldn't have one...
